Microsoft is set to launch Copilot for Security, an AI chatbot powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Microsoft’s own security-specific model, to aid cybersecurity professionals in protecting against threats. Unlike Copilot for Microsoft 365, Copilot for Security will be priced at $4 per hour of usage, following a consumption model. The chatbot provides real-time information on security incidents, threat summaries, and access to Microsoft’s 78 trillion daily signals. It also offers a pinboard for collaboration, event summarization for reporting, and supports natural language inputs, file analysis, and code analysis. The pay-as-you-go pricing model aims to facilitate scalable AI-powered cybersecurity efforts without upfront charges. Microsoft’s move towards AI in cybersecurity is timely, given recent attacks from Russian state-sponsored hackers and internal security breaches. The company is revamping its software security in response to Azure cloud attacks and previous breaches, such as the hacking of 30,000 organizations’ email servers and Chinese hackers breaching US government emails via a Microsoft cloud exploit.
