Nvidia has unveiled Project GR00T, a multimodal AI designed to power future humanoid robots with advanced foundation AI. This technology enables robots to process text, speech, videos, and live demonstrations to perform general actions and interact with the real world. The company has introduced the Jetson Thor chip for humanoids and made advancements in AI-powered industrial manipulation arms and robots for unstructured environments. Project GR00T, which stands for Generalist Robot 00 Technology, is built to understand natural language and human movements, making it easy to develop and deploy robots. Nvidia showcased GR00T-powered humanoid robots completing various tasks and is working with leading roboticists and companies like OpenAI to advance embodied AI. The company has also launched the Jetson Thor computing platform and leveraged its Isaac Robotics Platform to bring Project GR00T to life. Additionally, Nvidia is introducing targeted offerings like Isaac Manipulator and Isaac Perceptor to enhance robotic arm capabilities and guide robots through unstructured environments. The new Isaac platform capabilities are expected to be available in the second quarter of this year, while Project GR00T remains in early access. Nvidia is accepting applications to expand access to humanoid developers, with the broader public release timeline remaining unclear.
