Google has reportedly delayed the launch of its advanced AI model, Gemini, until early 2024. Gemini is described as the next generation of AI and is capable of processing various types of data, including text, images, and websites based on sketches or descriptions. The decision to postpone the launch events in New York, Washington, and California was made due to concerns about the AI’s performance with non-English prompts and inquiries. Despite not being publicly available yet, Gemini is said to outperform OpenAI’s GPT-4 due to its superior computing power. Google’s VP and manager of Bard and Google Assistant, Sissie Hsiao, has praised Gemini for its ability to generate novel images and communicate with humans through imagery. While Google already has its own generative AI model called Bard, analysts believe that Gemini’s launch could shift consumer awareness in its favor.
