Renowned futurist Ray Kurzweil predicts that artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to a new era of hybrid humans capable of aging in reverse within the next five years. In his book “The Singularity Is Near,” Kurzweil initially forecasted that the technological singularity, where AI surpasses humans and triggers an intelligence explosion, would occur by 2045. However, he now believes that AI will overtake human intelligence before the end of this decade. Elon Musk and other prominent technologists support Kurzweil’s predictions, with Musk stating that AI will likely be smarter than any single human next year and smarter than all humans combined by 2029. Kurzweil’s assertions are reinforced by the exponential progress of computing power, which he extensively covers in his upcoming book. He also anticipates that AI will soon be able to reverse human aging, reaching “longevity escape velocity” by 2029, where individuals will gain back more than a year of longevity.
