Apple has launched the public beta of iOS 18.2, introducing a range of AI features for users, which were previously exclusive to developers. Notable updates include the Genmoji emoji generator, the Image Playground for AI-generated images, ChatGPT integration with Siri, and visual search capabilities using the iPhone 16 cameras. While consumers can join the beta to access these features, some will require a waitlist for full functionality. The suite of AI tools, collectively referred to as Apple Intelligence, aims to enhance Siri’s capabilities and provide writing and image generation assistance across various apps. Third-party developers will also have the opportunity to integrate these features into their applications. Users can interact with Siri using the new ChatGPT extension to generate text, answer queries, and create images, with advanced functions available to paid subscribers. The Image Playground allows users to create images from prompts, while Genmoji focuses on custom emoji design. However, access to some features may be delayed due to safety concerns and the need for careful scaling. In addition to iOS 18.2, Apple released public betas for iPadOS 18.2, macOS Sequoia 15.2, and tvOS 18.2.
