OpenAI has launched GPT-5, its latest AI model, making it available to all users, including free tier subscribers. The model is described as smarter, faster, and more useful across various domains like writing, coding, and healthcare. OpenAI claims GPT-5 has a lower hallucination rate and has undergone extensive safety evaluations. The model uses ‘safe completions’ to respond to potentially risky questions within safety constraints. GPT-5 can generate software through ‘vibe coding’ and is rolling out to all user tiers, with Free users gaining access to a reasoning model for the first time. Microsoft products, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, will also integrate GPT-5. Box CEO Aaron Leve praised GPT-5 for its advanced reasoning and logic capabilities. OpenAI is releasing three versions of GPT-5 for developers through its API. The company aims to make GPT-5 feel natural and human-like, with CEO Sam Altman comparing it to having a team of Ph.D.-level experts available at any time.
