Inflection AI, the startup founded by DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, has launched its AI chatbot Pi as a dedicated app on Android. This move aims to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other AI assistants like Grok and Claude. The Pi app has been enhanced with changes in branding and aesthetics. It is available in 35 countries and offers a similar experience to the iOS version, allowing users to ask questions and receive instant answers or suggestions. Pi also supports voice interactions, with six voice options available. Inflection AI plans to upgrade Pi with Inflection-2, which will have improved capabilities and reasoning. The goal of Pi is to provide an empathetic and useful companion, differentiating itself from other AI assistants. By launching on Android, Inflection AI aims to reach a larger user base. However, it will face competition from ChatGPT, which already has a user base of nearly 200 million. Pi also competes with Bard, Claude, and Grok.
