Google has announced its Search Generative Experience (SGE) that allows users to create images directly from a text prompt. This feature is similar to Microsoft’s Bing Chat, which has been using OpenAI’s DALL-E model since March. To use SGE, users can type their query into the Google search bar and the tool will generate a few images based on the prompt. The tool is powered by the Imagen family of AI models. Users will also be able to generate AI-generated images from Google Images. Google emphasizes that it is rolling out this image-generation tool responsibly and will prevent the creation of images that violate its prohibited use policy. Each image created with SGE will have metadata labeling and embedded watermarking to indicate that it was created by AI. Google is also adding the ability to generate written drafts using SGE, which can be exported to Google Docs or Gmail. Since its launch, Google has been improving SGE with more video and better links.
This is not true yet. There is no way to sign up for the feature. I have the generative AI search feature and I followed the instructions the article lays out and I do not get an image generated. Please show a screen recording of a regular person doing this.
Yeah, looks like Google is doing a slow rollout of the feature. For example, “Google is limiting image generation to users who are 18 or older”. The following GIF shows the feature in use, but it won’t help you much if it is not made available to you yet:
