Amazon is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its delivery services during the busy holiday season. With over 71 million consumers expected to shop online on Cyber Monday, Amazon is using AI to ensure faster deliveries. Packages are now being prepared for dispatch within 11 minutes of an order placement at same-day facilities, which is an hour faster than next-day or two-day centers. AI is used to analyze and plot delivery routes, adapting to real-time traffic and weather conditions. It also helps forecast daily demand for over 400 million products, allowing for faster delivery during the holiday season. Amazon’s new system, Sequoia, has improved inventory identification and storage by 75% and reduced order processing time by 25%. Despite concerns about job displacement, Amazon states that AI and automation have created 700 new job types related to robotics. However, a Goldman Sachs report warns of potential disruption to the global labor market due to automation, affecting around 300 million jobs. Amazon has been using AI and machine learning for over 25 years and sees it as a collaboration between people and machines.
